The following obituary was printed in The Daily Commonwealth on 19 Jun 1913:
Mrs. Dana Has Sudden Summons; Her Illness of Only Three Weeks Duration; Too Weak for an Operation; Effort was Made to Have Specialist Operate, But Death Interrupts Plans
Genevieve Lanners Dana, wife of George P. Dana, died at 10:30 o'clock this morning following an illness of three weeks' duration and over which no apprehension was felt until Wednesday. Arrangements were then made with Dr. F. S. Witte, a Milwaukee specialist, for an operation to be performed this morning. Mrs. Dana was accordingly removed to the hospital at 9:30 o'clock but on reaching the hospital it was apparent that she was too weak to undergo the ordeal. Dr. Witte had arrived a half hour before she died. The operation was planned to relieve an attack of gall stones.
Mrs. Dana's death coming so suddenly is a great shock to her many friends and to members of her family. Her death marks the passing of a loving mother and devoted wife. She was born May 10, 1858, at Theresa, Dodge County, but moved to Fond du Lac when a young girl. She was united in marriage to George P. Dana May 19, 1874. Surviving she leaves her husband, five sons, Alexander G., Paul J., George A., Dr. Arthur C., and Victor and one daughter Mrs. T. C. Downs, all of this city. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Julia Walters, Fond du Lac; Mrs. R. E. Meunchow, Isle of Pinos; and Mrs. George Krebs, of Waupun. She was a member of St. Mary's court, W. C. (unreadable) Mary's church. Friends are especially requested to omit flowers.
Arrangements for the funeral have not been made.5

Genevieve Lanners' obituary was printed in the Daily Commonwealth on 21 June 1913, page 5:
