Leo was born in Mosinee, WI, on Oct. 7, 1941, a son of the late John and Clara Upshendeck Lowther.
On Jan. 23, 1965, he married Susan Mary Ricklefs at St. Mary Church, Fond du Lac.
He was a graduate of Oshkosh High School and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in education. He taught and coached at Sabish Junior High School for 30 years.
He was an active member and past president of Fond du Lac Youth Baseball, member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, a member of the South Shores Officials Association and the Wisconsin Council of Social Studies Teachers.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; one son, Michael of Sheboygan; two daughters, Catherine (Jim) Fenner of Woodbury, MN, and Mimi (Neil) Kroncich of Brookfield, WI; five grandchildren, Alex, Eleanor, Max and Cate Fenner and Leo Kroncich. He is further survived by three brothers, Larry (June) Lowther, John Lowther, all of Oshkosh, and Raymond (Phyllis) Lowther of Michigan; one sister, Elizabeth Lowther of Oshkosh; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara Ricklefs of Fond du Lac, Thomas (Sue Ellen) Ricklefs of Wausau and James (Helen) Ricklefs of San Diego, CA; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, from 3 to 4:45 p.m., at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac.
Services: A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5 p.m. at Holy Family Church on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice Hope Program or a memorial of your choice.
Leo's family is grateful to the staff at ManorCare Nursing Home for the loving care they gave Leo during his time with them.

Leo was born in Mosinee, WI, on Oct. 7, 1941, a son of the late John and Clara Upshendeck Lowther.
On Jan. 23, 1965, he married Susan Mary Ricklefs at St. Mary Church, Fond du Lac.
He was a graduate of Oshkosh High School and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in education. He taught and coached at Sabish Junior High School for 30 years.
He was an active member and past president of Fond du Lac Youth Baseball, member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, a member of the South Shores Officials Association and the Wisconsin Council of Social Studies Teachers.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; one son, Michael of Sheboygan; two daughters, Catherine (Jim) Fenner of Woodbury, MN, and Mimi (Neil) Kroncich of Brookfield, WI; five grandchildren, Alex, Eleanor, Max and Cate Fenner and Leo Kroncich. He is further survived by three brothers, Larry (June) Lowther, John Lowther, all of Oshkosh, and Raymond (Phyllis) Lowther of Michigan; one sister, Elizabeth Lowther of Oshkosh; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara Ricklefs of Fond du Lac, Thomas (Sue Ellen) Ricklefs of Wausau and James (Helen) Ricklefs of San Diego, CA; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, from 3 to 4:45 p.m., at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac.
Services: A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5 p.m. at Holy Family Church on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice Hope Program or a memorial of your choice.
Leo's family is grateful to the staff at ManorCare Nursing Home for the loving care they gave Leo during his time with them.
