Edward L. Meyer married Ursula Lauerman, daughter of Joseph Albert John Lauerman and Cecelia Josephine Kellermann, on 20 April 1937 at Marinette, Marinette County, Wisconsin. The following article appeared in the Marinette Eagle-Star:
Miss Ursula Lauerman Weds Edward Meyer
Before an altar banked with pink and white roses and a sanctuary bedecked with palms, snapdragons, and pink and white hydrangeas, Miss Ursula Lorraine Lauerman, daughter of Mrs. Joseph A.J. Lauerman, 1975 Riverside avenue, Marinette, exchanged her marriage vows with Edward Louis Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Meyer, 628 Emilie Street, at 9:30 this morning in Our Lady of Lourdes church, Marinette. The Rev. John McGinley read the service and music was furnished by Cherney's string ensemble.
Mrs. George Newton, aunt of the bride, sang "Panis Angelicus" accompanied by Miss Mary Doran at the organ. For the ceremony the bride wore an ivory satin period dress fashioned with a train and long tight sleeves, a high neckline and slightly turned down collar and buttoned to the waist in the back. A long veil was attached to a cap of net with a halo of the same material, and another veil was added at the wist line. Her bridal bouquet consisted of white lilacs and lilies of the valley.
Her sister, Mrs. Charles Clarke Glavin, Pelhan Manor, N.Y., as matron of honor was attired in a parma blue crepe romaine gown made with lattice work sleeves and a short jacket and train. Her hat was made of matching taffeta and she wore blue shoes and elbow-length pink gloves. Pale pink roses, blue delphinium, and gypsophila made up the bouquet which she carried.
William Kearns, brother-in-law of the groom, was the best man and acting as ushers were Joseph Lauerman, the bride's brother, and Leland Wells, uncle of the groom.
For the wedding the bride's mother wore a dust blue lace gown and a corsage of ivory tea roses. The groom's mother was attired in Dubonnet lace and also wore a shoulder bouquet of ivory tea roses.
Following a wedding breakfast served at the home of the bride's mother for 75 guests, the couple left on a motor trip. For her travelling ensemble, the bride wore a French coral suit with a pink beige blouse, a coat of French coral with a fox collar and a close fitting brown hat with veil. Her shoulder bouquet was of orchids.
Guests in addition to those from Marinette present at the wedding were Mrs. Charles Clarke Glavin, Pelham Manor, N.Y; Mr. and Mrs. Alex M. Kaspar and children, Alex, Jr., and Marie, Park Ridge, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Brennan, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Meyer, William Kearns, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Wells, Ed Krippener, Jr., and Karl Hagemeister, all of Green Bay; Mrs. Arthur Wilson, Grand Rapids, Mich; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kellerman and Mrs. Harry Kellerman, Watertown, Ws; Mr. and Mrs. Max Kellerman, Escanaba, Mich; Miss Hattie Bodenbach, Ewen, Mich; and Mrs. Charles Woodward Lamb, Naperville, Ill.
The following article also appeared in the Marinette Eagle-Star:
Ursula Lauerman Bride of Edward Meyer Today
One of the loveliest of the season's brides was Miss Ursula Lorraine Lauerman, youngest daughter of Mrs. Joseph A. J. Lauerman, 1975 Riverside, who exchanged marriage vows this morning in Our Lady of Lourdes church with Edward Louis Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Meyer, 628 Emilie St., Green Bay. The Very Rev. Dean J. McGinley was celebrant of the nuptial high mass, which immediately followed the marriage ceremony performed at 9:30 o'clock.
Yards of veiling fell softly from a halo of net, over the bride's ivory satin period dress with train, and designed with long tight sleeves, buttoned to the waist at the back, and high neckline with a slightly turned down collar. There was also an added veil to the waistline. She carried a bouquet of white lilacs.
Mrs. Charles Clarke Glavin of Pelham Manor, the former Elizabeth Lauerman, attended her sister as matron of honor. William Kearns, Green Bay, brother-in-law of the groom, acted as best man.
Mrs. Glavin wore a Parma blue crepe romaine gown with train and fashioned with lattice work sleeves in short jacket, with a matching hat of taffeta, blue shoes and pink gloves. She carried an arm bouquet of pale pink roses, blue delphinium and gypsophila.
Given in Marriage
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Henry J. Lauerman of Menominee.
Joseph Lauerman, brother of the bride, and Leland Wells, Green Bay, uncle of the groom, were ushers.
Mrs. Lauerman, mother of the bride, wore a dress of dust blue lace, with a shoulder bouquet of orchids and ivory tea roses, while Mrs. Meyer, mother of the groom, was gowned in Dubonnet lace, also wearing a shoulder bouquet of orchids and ivory tea roses.
The altars in the spacious edifice were attractively decorated with vases of pink and white roses, and palms, pink snap dragons, pink and white hydrangeas furnished an exquisite setting in the sanctuary.
The bridal music at the church was played by Miss Mary Doran of this city, at the organ. Mendelsohn's Wedding March was played as the processional and Lohengrin's Wedding March as the recessional.
The wedding breakfast was served to about 75 guests at the paternal home of the bride, after the reception held immediately following the ceremony.
Reception at Home
During the reception and breakfast, Cherney's string trio played a routine of concert music. The ensemble consists of A. J Cherney, and Otto Vieth of Menominee, and miss Stella White, this city.
The rooms of the Lauerman residence were artistically decorated with huge vases and bowls of white and pink roses, and palms. The tables were elegantly decorated with bowls of white roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer departed later in the day on a three weeks motor trip, and upon their return will take up their residence in their new home, which the groom has in readiness for his new bride at 145 N. Ashland, Green Bay. Mr. Meyer holds the position of manager of the Green Bay Soap Company.
For travelling the bride is wearing a smart French Coral suit with pink beige blouse, a loose coat of French coral with a fox collar, and a close fitting brown hat with veil, and a shoulder bouquet of orchids.
Guests From Away
Guests from out of the city included Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Meyer, parents of the groom, Green Bay, William Kearns (best man), Mr. and Mrs.. Leland Wells, Ed Krippener Jr., and Karl Hagemeister, Green Bay; Mrs. Arthur Wilson, Grand Rapids, Mich; Mrs. Charles Clarke Glavin, Pelham Manor, N. Y; Mr. and Mrs. Alex M.
