     Mrs. Fred Megean, nee Clara Toussaint of this city, but for some years past a resident of Minneapolis, died last Monday at St. Vincent's hospital at Crokstown, Minn. aged 24 years. Deceased was a daughter of Henry J. Toussaint and wife, of this city, and had been married about three yeas. September 13, 1906, she was injured in a wreck on the Great Northern Ry. while on her way from Minneapolis to Crookstown to attend the funeral of her father-in-lawand since then she had been confined to the hospital. Her parents left here on Monday hoping to reach her bedside before she died, but fate ordained otherwise, as she died at 2:35 P.M. Monday, and her parents did not reach Crookstown till 8:30 o' clock next morning. She was buried at Crookstown Thursdaymorning, it being her request that she be buried alongside her baby there, which was born dead on Tuesday, Feb. 5, last. The deceased was well known here, and all her old friends heard of her death with sincere sorrow. Her parents have the sincere sympathy of all our people.²

Frank Toussaint, brother of the groom, and Miss Mary Schaus of Milwaukee, cousin of the bride, acted as groomsman and bridesmaid. After the ceremonies at the church, the bridal party and their friends proceeded to the residence of the bride's parents, where a reception was held during the afternoon and evening, relatives and intimate friends of the contracting parties being the only ones present. Both bride and groom have lived in this place from their infancy and have always been known only to be respected. A host of warm friends unite in wishing the young couple a long and bright matrimonial career. Mr. and Mrs. Toussaint have acted very sensible by remaining in the city and immediately commencing housekeeping. - Watertown Gazette.

Hosts of Watertown people were grieved to learn of the death of Dr. Frank J. Toussaint, aged 75 years, which took place on Thursday, June 27, 1935, at St. Camillius hospital, Milwaukee. Interment was at New Berlin, Wis. His wife, two sons and one daughter survive him; also two brothers, John Toussaint of Milwaukee, and Henry J. Toussaint of Fort Atkinson. He was born in Watertown and during his many years of residence here was one of Watertown's most noted citizens, taking part in every civic matter that tended to boost our city. He was the state veterinarian under Governor George W. Peck. He was one of the first gold miners in the Klondike district, and also mined silver in property owned by him in the wilds of Mexico, but was driven out by the Indians. He was one of the editor's best boyhood friends. We join with his many other old friends here in extending our sincere sympathy to his wife and family.¹⁶

Another Prominent Citizen Passes to the Great Beyond
     Jacob J. Toussaint, one of our best known and most highly respected citizens, died at his residence, 314 North Water street, Tuesday morning, January 19, at 7:30 o'clock. His disease was stomach trouble, which had confined him to the house the past month. He was in his 70th year.
     The deceased was a native of Belgium and the date of his birth was February 27, 1827. He emigrated to America in 1852, living about a year in Ohio, after which he located in Sauk City, this state, where he found employment in a distillery. In the fall of 1861, Mr. Toussaint took up his permanent residence in this city. His first work here was for Miller and Jacobi, proprietors of the old Watertown distillery near the Rough and Ready water-power, an interest in which he afterward purchased and becoming eventually its executive head. This business continued in operation until 1874, when it was abandoned. Meanwhile Mr. Toussaint became a member of the firm of He Bandl & Co., wholesale liquor dealers and rectifiers and in May, 1871, this firm was succeeded by that of J. J. Toussaint & Co., the co-partner being Joseph Terbrueggen, who retired in 1892, since when the business has been conducted under the style of J. J. Toussaint & Son. The deceased was at one time a part owner of the electric light plant. The above is a brief outline of the career of one who occupied a conspicuous position in our business circles for a long period. During all this time he lived a life beyond reproach - upright and honorable, charitable and friendly in his every intercourse, a man in whom the "milk of human kindness" flowed to more than the usual degree. Mr. Toussaint was a steadfast member of the Catholic church, and in his religious as well as business and social being he lived correctly and in the fear of his Creator. ever apparent, and it may truly be said of him that he traveled life's journey possessing warm friendships on every hand, with absolutely no enemies. He has gone to his final reward leaving behind memories that will ever be revered.
     Mr. Toussaint was twice married, his first wife, to whom he was wedded in 1854 at Sauk City, dying in 1862. Of this union three sons were born, Henry J. and Winanand J., of Watertown, and Dr. Frank J., of Milwaukee, all of whom survive. In 1864 he was married here to his second wife, who survives him. Of this union there are two surviving sons, Dr. Jacob J. Jr., and Dr. Louis J., both of Milwaukee. Mr. Toussaint was the only member of his father's family who came across the Atlantic.
     The funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Henry's church.²⁰

Mr. Toussaint and bride spent severals days here last week visiting at the home of his parents.²
