     He was born on 31 March 1786 at Wittring, Sarreguemines, Moselle, Lorraine, Birthdate entry was formerly c 1883, not sure where this came from, but I believe that c 1783 was intended. According to the Civil Record he was 32 at the time of sister Anne's marriage on 1 Feb 1817, which would put his birth at 1784 or 1785, although the same record has him as her 'younger' brother, and she was 24 at the time. The Dintinger information states his birthdate as 1785.3,1,4,2 He was the son of Jean Nicholas Gran and Anne Marie Jung.1,2

Other witnesses include Jacques Faber, independently wealthy, 64 years old; Pierre Faber, schoolteacher, 31 years old. All residing in Wittring. Also Nicolas Denig, junior, plowman; Nicolas Keiser, senior, plowman; Nicolas Denig, farmhand.8,9,3,10,2

Nicolas Gran was a journeyman (as of sister Anne's wedding) on 1 February 1817 at Wittiring.3

Nicolas Gran died on 11 December 1857 at Wittring at age 71.6,11,2

Miss Langenbach is Bride of Donald Gray at LaCrosse
     Miss Gretchen Louise Langenbach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Langenbach of La Crosse, became the bride of Donald Gray on Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock, the ceremony being held at the home of the bride's parents. The Rev. G Paul Stowel, pastor of the First Congregational church, officiated the ceremony.
     The bride was attended by Miss Margaret Esch as maid of honor, and the Misses Ruth Kutzhorsky. Ellen Hurtzen, Marjorie Platz, Margaret Husting, Marie Kuehn and Anne Kendall, as bridesmaids. Master Henry Funk acted as ring bearer, and little Frances Egan and Virginia Funk were ribbon bearers.
     Donald Gray, who is son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gray of this city, was attended by Myron E. LaVake, Jr., of Princeton, N.J., as best man, and ushers were Roman N. Bachhuber, of this city, and Robert H. Bayer, Claude F. Wagner, and Franklin Pamperin.
     After the ceremony, a ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mayville people who attended the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. John Gray, Mrs. L.S. Keeley, Miss Margaret Keeley, Mrs. Ed Sauerhering, and John Schneider.
     After Oct. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gray will be at home at the Mobray apartments, Kew Gardens, Long Island, NY. Mr. Gray is a graduate of the local high shcool, attended the University of Wisconsin, and recently was graduated from Rider college, Trenton, NJ. The bride attended the University of Wisconsin and Connecticut Collegem at New London, Conn.2
