DIED
Leonard Hertel died last Monday night at the home of his son, Andrew Hertel, 610 Sixth Street, with whom he has made his home for quite some time. Deceased was 88 years of age, and was a native of Germany. In 1845 he located on a farm in the town of Ixonia, where he resided until removing to this city about 20 years ago. He leaves surviving him four sons and three daughters. Thursday morning his funeral took place from St. Henry's Church, and his remains were interred in St. Henry's Cemetery. Mr. Hertel was a well-known citizen, and had a large acquaintance who held him in the highest esteem. He was a man of unsullied character, and one who lived the life of the righteous at all times, and was ever mindful of the precept "do unto others as you would be done by." In his death, Watertown loses a most worthy citizen, and his family an honored and most dutiful father.2
